Hey Gang! Glad you've stopped by to read my first blog post, I hope it's everything you wanted and more. Blogging and writing have never really been my "thing," but I am going to give it a try and see how it goes.
So for those of you new here, my name is Alexis! I am the owner of Simply in Stitches, located out of my home in Enfield, CT. I am a local Kindergarten teacher and hobby crocheter. I have two large pups, a small son and a husband; who all support my yarn and crochet addiction. Actually the dogs deal, and my son doesn't know better yet. ;)
So you may be asking yourself, or maybe not, why'd you start a blog? Well, the other day I was scrolling through my Instagram stories and I was watching the story of a local CT crocheter Bella, from Fiber and Fox, who I have followed for awhile.
Here is her Instagram that you should totally follow, her things are beautiful.
She had mentioned a free online program called, Master Your Crochet Business: My 3-Step Framework Profitability put on by Pam Grice from the The Crochetpreneur® Business Academy. This free program happened to be offered on a Snow Day for me and I figured, what the heck? Let's give it a whirl. You will also learn through my future blog posts, hopefully, that I am always looking for signs in my life. I took this series of events as a sign that maybe this was something for me! Especially since I've been really pondering the idea of taking my crochet business to the next level. So, I watched this course after my very regretful 6pm coffee and I really felt inspired. I felt that making my small business grow could possibly be a reality for me. So I started to explore her course options and talked it over with both my husband and my mom. Through these conversations, and my mother really bringing me back to my current reality, I decided signing up for this course and really taking a BIG step with Simply in Stitches was not in my very current future. My life right now includes caring for my 22 month old, continuing my journey in a brand new school district, teaching during a pandemic, and we are looking to buy a house this Spring. Now that is not to say this program is not on my radar for the future, because it totally is. Today, this season and my current crazy filled world, does not include this step just yet.
BUT I did want to start small using some of the tips she did provide in her masterclass, one of those tips was to start a blog. Now, in her program she dives deeper into this, but I figured I'd start small and see how it goes. If you are a crochet maker and/or designer, I do highly suggest looking into The Crochetpreneur® Business Academy (linked above for your exploring pleasure). So here is my blog, now you know why I started it and you'll have to stay tuned for my next post.
Hope you come back, because hitting "publish" gives me all sorts of anxiety!
See ya soon!
Alexis
